Booking your IELTS exam in Canada is easy!

IELTS exams in Canada can only be booked through the British Council or IDP. These are the official test providers of IELTS and allow you to book and take OFFICIAL IELTS tests in Canada. Use the following guide to ensure you book your test correctly and choose the best version for you.

Things you will need

  • Piece of ID (Passport, PR card or National Identification Card)
  • A Canadian address

Where can I book my IELTS exam in Canada?

All IELTS exams can be booked online. The only 2 official test providers are British Council and IDP. Which one you choose to book with is entirely up to you.

Both offer the EXACT SAME TEST. There is no difference between them.

We suggest you look at both to see which one offers a testing centre closest to you. Some centres may book up faster than others, so having two providers to choose from will help with your scheduling.

How to book an IELTS exam with British Council in Canada

Go to the official British Council booking website for Canada.

  1. Choose the version of the test you wish to take.

If unsure, please double-check with the organization asking you to take the test. A general rule of thumb is that Academic is for education purposes (college, university, etc…) and General Training is for immigration purposes (passports, visas, express entry, etc…).

  • Second is the format of the test. Select if you would like to take the paper or computer-based version of the test. Both offer the exact same test; however, computer-based results are delivered faster than paper-based results.
  • Lastly, choose the date range for your test. We recommend selecting “show me all dates” so you can see the full list of upcoming test dates.
